How can CBD help with Cancer?

Cancer is a strong word that scares most of us when we hear it. And many people live a daily struggle against this terrible enemy of our well-being.

In countries where cannabis is regulated, many patients diagnosed with cancer turn to it to relieve symptoms of the disease and the side effects of drugs. In addition, several studies have been conducted to show how cannabis can help prevent the progression of the disease.

But how can Cannabis help in cases of cancer?

Many patients who use cannabis-based products in these cases report that these products have a very positive effect in terms of minimizing the symptoms caused by both the disease and the drugs used in these cases. CBD and other products act mainly on: nausea, vomiting, pain and general malaise.

Let's take a closer look at how cannabinoids can help in these 4 areas:

Nausea and vomiting - the feeling of nausea is directly linked to our brain, rather than the stomach, and endocannabinoids play an important role in this field, whether they are those present in our body or those that we ingest.

As mentioned in other articles, our brain is made up of several elements, including endocannabinoid receptors, which are responsible for regulating many bodily functions.

In the first study carried out in 2016 in Australia, in order to show positive results from the use of cannabinoids in cases of cancer, it was concluded that both cannabinoids and phytocannabinoids present in the cannabis plant, when ingested, bind to endocannabinoid receptors, present in areas of the brain associated with nausea and vomiting, soothing the sensation of nausea and vomiting. In these cases, CBD suppresses nausea and vomiting, and THC, when ingested, stimulates the appetite.

Pain - Cannabis has medicinal properties that are beneficial to our well-being, including its ability to act as a powerful painkiller. Several clinical trials have shown that cannabis is an effective alternative to pain relief, because the nerves responsible for the sensation of pain contain endocannabinoid receptors. When we ingest cannabinoids, such as THC or CBD, the CB1 and CB2 receptors are activated in the central nervous system and in pain neurotransmitters, thus affecting the level of pain felt. Therefore, there is a balance between the pain felt and the stimulus sent to the brain.

General malaise - all conventional treatments cause general malaise, or an imbalance in what we call homeostasis.

Homeostasis is our body's ability to maintain balance and proper functioning of the body and biological systems.
Several studies suggest that the endocannabinoid system plays a key role in maintaining this balance, mainly because it is involved in a wide variety of bodily processes, such as respiration, digestion, and excretion. CBD stimulates the endocannabinoid system to maintain the body's balance, preventing diseases due to its therapeutic properties.

In addition to all the facts presented, several studies carried out in laboratories with animals suffering from cancer show that cannabinoids can reduce the growth of tumors. This is because they are able to modulate the main cell signaling pathways involved in controlling the proliferation and survival of cancer cells. In addition, cannabinoids inhibit angiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels linked to the development of various diseases, including cancer) and reduce metastasis (the formation of a new tumor lesion from another) in various types of tumors in laboratory animals.

It is also important to note that anyone who decides to use CBD products to alleviate symptoms or side effects of cancer treatments should always do so under the supervision of a specialist. Each organism reacts differently, but we can see CBD as a good ally in this fight.
